Excellent grounds with wildlife, Charming antique decor, Access to a cozy lounge with log fire
Limited accessibility due to stairs!!! Some areas of decor feeling dated!!! A lack of modern technology in rooms is disappointing!!! With no swimming pool or spa, options for relaxation feel limited!!!

What a charming little place, but they definitely could use some help. The bathroom was outdated, like a time capsule from the 80s. I also expected some sort of welcome gift after being subjected to a mediocre room. If only the mattress wasn't like sleeping on a cloud of disappointment. Almost gave 5 stars, but just couldn't.

The location was perfect and lovely, to feel welcome as that very much underpins everything else, and the bed comfortable. Liked that it was set short walk to the river and the canal, places / restaurants / landmarks in Peak District and the village.

Peaceful retreat in historical elegance
Each morning began with a delicious breakfast made from fresh, free-range eggs gathered right from the garden. Peter's hospitality was extraordinary, offering insightful recommendations on local attractions and dining options. The historical ambiance of the hotel was captivating, complemented by the serene views of nearby wildlife. Our room was spacious and beautifully designed, providing access to a cozy lounge with a log fire, an unexpected haven to unwind after a day of exploring.
One drawback for some guests could be the stairs leading to the bedrooms, which might present a challenge for those with mobility issues. While the decor is charming and antique, a few elements could be seen as needing some modern updates. These minor setbacks never detracted from the overall experience.

The outdoor dining area is an absolute gem, where we savored hearty vegetarian dishes and fresh garden delights while deer grazed nearby-a total feast for the senses! Peter and Jen's stellar hospitality and the fine historical decor.
Just a heads up, there are stairs to the bedrooms for those with mobility challenges, but honestly, you'll be too enchanted by the fine views and inviting atmosphere to care!

A historical gem in Highpeak Junction 🏡
Waking up to a deer munching on the grass was just magical! Plus, Peter's brekkie with eggs from his own chickens was unreal-lekker! The antique decor just brought the whole vibe alive, and the views were fine.
Just a heads up, the stairs were a bit of a workout for us.

Fine stay with a family vibe!
Everything here is just beautiful! The grounds are like a fairy tale. Peter, Jen, and Auntie Rose treated us like family. Loved lounging in the outdoor dining area! The only hitch was that the bathroom could use a little update. Can't wait to visit again!

great experience, but some areas need attention
The hospitality was great, with Peter providing thorough directions and having fantastic local tips. The historical decor really brought the charm of the place alive, and the garden view was serene, offering beautiful wildlife moments like spotting a deer. Breakfast was a highlight, with farm-fresh eggs and an inviting atmosphere set at an antique table.
The mattress felt a bit too soft for my liking.
